What to expect after Ear Health & Wax Removal Sessions

  • Immediate improvement in hearing (if wax was present)
  • Slight sensitivity in the ear
  • Mild dizziness (usually brief)
  • A feeling of openness or altered hearing temporarily
  • Occasionally mild irritation

Most symptoms settle quickly after treatment.

An ear health consultation is required before treatment to assess suitability and safety.

Before your treatment

Up to 1–2 weeks before (if advised)

  • Use olive oil drops to soften ear wax
  • Apply as directed (usually once or twice daily)
  • This improves effectiveness and comfort of removal

24 hours before

  • Continue olive oil drops if advised
  • Avoid inserting cotton buds or objects into the ear
  • Avoid using ear candles (not recommended)

First 24 hours

  • Keep ears dry
  • Avoid inserting anything into the ear
  • Avoid swimming
  • Avoid loud environments if ears feel sensitive

After your treatment

3-5 days post treatment

  • Continue to keep ears dry where possible
  • Avoid water entering the ear (especially if irritation present)
  • Do not use cotton buds
  • Mild sensitivity should settle
  •  

7 days post treatment

  • Avoid swimming if irritation persists
  • Avoid inserting any objects into the ear canal
  • Allow the ear to return to its natural balance

What to avoid

Immediately after treatment

  • Cotton buds or any objects in the ear
  • Water entering the ear
  • Ear candles
  • Excessive noise exposure

Results timeline

Varies & depends on individuals

Some clients may require follow-up if wax is very impacted.

  • Immediate improvement: often same day
  • Sensitivity settles: 24–72 hours
  • Full normalisation: a few days

Important Care advice

  • Ear wax is protective and normal
  • Avoid over-cleaning the ears
  • Do not insert objects into the ear canal
  • Regular use of cotton buds can worsen impaction
  • Future build-up can be managed with periodic maintenance
