What to expect after Cryotherapy / Cryosurgery
Healing time varies depending on the size and type of lesion but typically ranges from 1 to 3 weeks.
- Immediate whitening of the treated area
- Redness and mild swelling
- A blister may form within hours (this is normal)
- The area may feel sore or tender
- A scab will form over the next few days
- The lesion will gradually dry, darken, and fall away
Before your treatment
24 hours before
- Keep the area clean
- Avoid applying irritants or active skincare to the area
- Do not attend with infected, bleeding, or uncertain lesions without prior assessment
First 24 hours
- Do not touch, pick, or disturb the area
- Keep the area clean and dry
- Avoid makeup on the treated area
- Avoid friction or pressure
- Mild discomfort is normal
After your treatment
2-5 days post treatment
- A blister or scab may form
- Do not burst blisters unless advised
- If blister breaks naturally, keep the area clean
- Allow the area to dry and heal naturally
1-3 weeks post treatment
- The scab will dry and fall off naturally
- Do not pick or force removal
- Skin underneath may appear pink or lighter temporarily
- Continue protecting the area
What to avoid
Until fully healed
- Picking or scratching the area
- Applying active skincare (acids, retinol, exfoliants)
- Sun exposure on the treated area
- Swimming if blistered or open
- Friction from clothing or shaving over the area
Results timeline

Some lesions may require more than one treatment depending on size and depth.
- Initial reaction: immediately after treatment
- Blister/scab formation: 1–5 days
- Lesion separation: 1–3 weeks
- Skin normalisation: several weeks
Important Care advice
- Keep the area clean and dry
- You may gently cleanse with mild soap and water
- A simple protective ointment (if advised) can be applied
- Use SPF once the area has healed to reduce pigmentation risk
