LESION IDENTIFICATION CARE

We work closely with qualified dermatologists. If unsure about a lesion, we use a specialised device and send specialised images to them. A dermatologist diagnoses the lesion and can prescribe a way forward.

REMEMBER

  • Usually, when a lesion is removed, no special care is needed during healing.  The aftercare is the same as for Cryosurgery, (see care for Cryosurgery)
  • It normally takes a couple of weeks for a lesion to scab and fall off after cryosurgery.. Only occasionally, it may take longer.
  • Your skin may look lighter (hypopigmentation) or darker (hyperpigmentation) after treatment.  If you have darker skin, you may notice the pigmentation more. However, this normally improves with time.
  • The treated area can feel numb after cryosurgery.  This can happen if nerves on the skin surface are frozen during procedure.  This is usually only temporary and may even last a few months.

AFTER CARE

  1. The area treated should be washed gently once or twice a day and kept clean.

  2. A bandage or dressing should only be needed if the area rubs against clothes or may be easily injured.

  3. The treated area will be more prone to sunburn, and  sunscreen must be used to protect it.
